Strikers Club Penalties Guide

Strikers Club penalties guide: shooting and saving spot kicks after the v0.80 rework, aim tips, keeper reads, and interference rules from v0.82 — July 2026.

Penalty kick flow after the v0.80 rework.

Strikers Club penalties guide

Penalties in Strikers Club are fully manual — no shootout mini-game with preset corners. The designated taker controls run-up, aim, and power; the human keeper reads body shape and dives on reaction. That makes spot kicks one of the highest-pressure moments in ranked 5v5 and knockout 11v11, especially after Oddshot reworked timing in v0.80.2.

This Strikers Club penalties guide covers taker technique, keeper reads, and what changed in the rework. Pair it with how to shoot for power-bar basics, goalkeeping for stance and dives, and controls for default bindings. Verified July 23, 2026 on Steam Early Access Early Access · v0.82 · July 2026.

Drill penalties in Free Play before ranked — SBMM after v0.79 punishes teams that gift fouls in the box without a rehearsed taker or keeper.

Taking penalties as the taker

Spot kicks reuse the same shoot binding as open play (right mouse / pad trigger — see controls). The difference is the fixed ball position, longer run-up animation after v0.80, and a keeper who can legally shuffle along the line until you plant your foot.

TechniqueWhen to useRisk
Low driven near postKeeper cheats far; default in 5v5Miss wide if you open hips early
High far postKeeper dives near earlySkied if power bar peaks before contact
Stutter / slow run-upSell one side, finish otherKeeper may reset if you pause too long — check foul rules each patch
Panenka / chipKeeper commits lowEasy save if keeper stays central
  • Do01Choose taker in lobby — do not argue at the spot
  • Do02Aim before run-up; do not look at keeper mid-stride
  • Do03Practice ten kicks per corner in Free Play weekly
  • Do04If you miss, next kick same corner — keepers over-read switches

Run-up and aim timing

After v0.80.2, run-up speed changed — rushing the bar often tops the ball. Pick your corner before you start the run: near post, far post, or low centre. Use camera lock the same way as open-play finesse shots so mouse aim stays stable through contact.

Hold shoot to charge power; release at the contact frame. Half power beats a rushed full bar that sails over. In Strikers Club, curve comes from aim offset at release — slight drag for far-post curlers, not FIFA-style spin buttons.

Selling direction without telegraphing

Shoulder angle and last-step cadence sell fakes. A stutter step can move the keeper — but pauses that look like animation cancels may be flagged depending on patch notes. When in doubt, commit to one corner and strike cleanly.

Phantom players sometimes fake shot before the penalty — that binding is a Playstyle skill, not available on every build. Generalist and Maestro takers rely on placement over feints.

5v5 vs 11v11 mentality

In 5v5, keepers have less time to read you — low driven near post is the highest-percentage opener. In 11v11, teammates and crowd noise add pressure; stick to one rehearsed corner for the whole match rather than improvising each kick.

Saving penalties as goalkeeper

Goalkeeping is a dedicated role in Strikers Club — you must be the assigned keeper to face the kick. Enter goalkeeper stance early, shuffle along the line with small inputs, and dive only after the taker plants. v0.82 patched early-dive exploits that let keepers cover the whole goal before contact.

  • Do01Enter GK stance before taker reaches the ball
  • Do02Shuffle, do not jump, until planting foot lands
  • Do03Watch planting foot and hips, not eyes
  • Do04Practice low and high dives separately offline

Pre-kick positioning

Stand centre initially; micro-shuffle toward your strong side once the taker picks up speed. Do not hug the near post before the run — good takers will slot far. Read hips and planting foot, not the power meter UI.

In stance mode you move slower but reach wider — same bindings as open-play saves on the goalkeeping guide. Outfield players cannot substitute for you on the line.

Dive timing and mind games

Commit on plant, not on first step. Late dives beat keepers who guess on the first shuffle; early dives leave the opposite corner open after the rework.

Staying central is underrated in 5v5 — many takers target corners because they expect a dive. React to low shots with a quick drop rather than a full horizontal lunge when the taker opens their body for height.

After the save or goal

Distribution matters on parries — quick throws start counters. On goals conceded, note whether you guessed direction or were beaten by power; drill that read in Free Play keeper mode.

v0.80 penalty rework — what changed

Patch v0.80.2 (July 2026) reworked Strikers Club spot kicks alongside custom jersey numbers. Oddshot adjusted run-up rhythm, keeper reaction windows, and foul detection on penalty-box challenges — if your muscle memory comes from the Next Fest demo, re-read this section.

What takers should relearn

Do not spam full power — the rework rewards patient timing. Rebuild your three-corner routine in Free Play before ranked.

Camera sensitivity that worked for open-play finesses may feel tight on the longer run-up — test one session after each patch.

What keepers should relearn

Old early-dive habits auto-concede far post. Drill shuffle-only reads until plant, then commit.

Pair with how to defend to reduce fouls in the box — the best penalty save is not giving one away.

Strikers Club penalties FAQ

Can the keeper move before the kick?

Small shuffles along the line are allowed until the taker plants. Early dives that cover both posts were patched in v0.82 — read current in-game foul text.

Do penalties use the same shoot button as normal shots?

Yes — see controls. Power and aim behave like open play with a fixed ball.

What changed in the v0.80 penalty rework?

Run-up speed, power consistency, and keeper timing windows. Full table in the rework section above.

Best place to practice penalties?

Free Play solo, then custom 5v5 with friends. Community Centre adds distraction but less repeatable spot-kick spawns.

Does Playstyle affect penalties?

Only if you use skill moves (e.g. Phantom fake shot). No stat boosts on any Playstyle.

Who should take penalties in 5v5?

Agree in lobby — usually your best shooting player, not whoever fouled.

Are penalty shootouts in knockouts?

Tied knockouts can go to extra time first — full football rules apply. Check mode description in game modes.

Why do my penalties always go over?

Power bar peaking before contact — hold less, aim lower, drill in Free Play.

Controller or keyboard for spot kicks?

Both work; mouse aim offers finer placement. Pad players: lower sensitivity, commit on plant read.

Is there a penalty stat or achievement?

Early Access · v0.82 · July 2026 added Steam achievements — scored goals count toward totals. See Steam community for the full 20-achievement list.
