Keyboard or controller for GK?
Many ranked GKs prefer keyboard for dive precision — test both in Free Play per controls.

Goalkeeping in Strikers Club is a dedicated human role — no auto-switch when the ball enters the box. Oddshot Games built manual stance, dives, catches, and distribution on the same physics layer as outfield play. Expect whiffed saves until you finish the in-game GK tutorial and drill offline.
This Strikers Club goalkeeping guide covers stance, 1v1 spreads, angle cutting, and when to rush. Read controls for bindings and penalties for spot-kick specifics. Verified July 23, 2026.

| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Role | One human GK per side — always |
| Inputs | Stance · dive · distribution — see controls |
| Offline practice | Free Play + Community Centre |
| Latency sensitivity | Highest on team — wired net helps |
Enter goalkeeper stance before the shooter plants foot — standing upright as GK shrinks effective reach and telegraphs dive direction in 1v1s. Shuffle along the line with small movements; over-diving early leaves the far post open.
K-stance (jump while holding stance) covers low corners when paired with a forward step to near post. Practice the toggle in Free Play until muscle memory beats panic flinch.
| Stance state | Movement speed | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| Upright | Normal | Rushing · collecting long ball |
| GK stance | Slower · wider reach | Shots inside box |
| K-stance | Low block | Near-post driven shots |
| Split prep | Lateral lean | Wide angle before dive commit |
Rush only when CB calls "keeper" and through ball beats the line — see sweeper section. Exiting late on a cross leaves you stranded between posts.
Shout keeper on corners so outfield players do not clash headers. Punch or catch decision depends on traffic — human attackers head with pace, not auto animations.
Directional dives combine movement input with dive button — timing beats button mash. Split saves cover wide shots when a full extension dive will not arrive; commit once the shooter opens hips.
Parries stay in play — manual rebounds mean your CB must track second balls. Catch when traffic is light; parry wide when strikers crowd the six-yard box.
| Save type | Trigger | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Low dive | K-stance + direction | Diving high on driven shot |
| High corner | Late extension + jump | Leaving near post early |
| 1v1 spread | Slow forward + wait | Diving before touch |
| Split save | Lateral lean + react | Guessing before wind-up |
| Penalty | Hold central until last stride | Early shuffle (v0.80 tuned) |
Stay central until the final stride — strikers sell shot with Phantom fake. Low driven beats tall stance; chip beats rush. Mix your responses across sessions so meta cannot read you.
Expect second balls off parries and posts — defenders must goal-side track, not admire the save. You cannot control outfield recovery after a spill.
Cut the angle between ball and both posts — inch forward on central shots, hug near post on cut-backs from wing. In 5v5, smaller box means faster one-touch finishes; cheat a step toward near post on low driven meta.
Off your line only when the through ball beats the high line and you are the first defender — sweeper keeper calls require CB trust.
| Shot origin | Line position | Ready shape |
|---|---|---|
| Central 18y | One step off line | K-stance ready |
| Wide angle | Near post cheat | Split prep |
| Cut-back | Front post step | Low hands |
| Long range | Two steps out | Catch if clean |
| Cross | Between posts | Punch or claim call |
Open hips often mean far side; closed hips suggest near post or cut-back. Combine with shooting guide knowledge — good strikers disguise late.
11v11 spreads shots wider — more crosses and far-post headers. 5v5 clusters quick passes — stay set longer, dive later.
After saves and collects, distribution starts counters. Quick throw to overlapping fullback beats a sliced goal kick into midfield traffic. Use the same pass/shoot bindings as outfield — power from hold duration and aim.
Sweeper rushes punish high lines — shout before you charge outside the box so CBs cover the net.
| Distribution | Risk | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Quick throw | Low | Fast 5v5 counter |
| Roll to CB | Medium | Reset possession |
| Goal kick long | High — interception | Bypass press |
| Punt mid | Medium | Second-ball fight |
Loose ball at edge of box with two attackers — drop to stance and force the angle. Sliding outside the area risks foul and open net.
See dedicated penalties page — save logic differs from open play due to fixed spot and run-up rules.

Role pick in lobby — volunteer GK in Discord LFG for faster stacks.
Early commit or reading power meter instead of hips. Wait on 1v1s.
Visual only — no reach boost.
Free Play saves → 5v5 custom → matchmaking when you save half of 1v1s in warm-up.
Playstyles affect outfield skill moves only — GK kit is role-based.
Voice/ping — humans must see you; no AI switch.
